Law Departments have three primary goals - protect, run and grow the company. Law Departments are great at helping run and protect the company, but now need to demonstrate excellence in helping grow the company. Being able to help grow the company (e.g. 3x) while generally maintaining legal costs (1x) is a key measure of success for modern GCs. This is what it means to run legal like a business. This sessions touches on that definition, how to achieve it and the areas legal and legal ops teams need to address and focus to successfully achieve this goal. This session will also touch on the role technology, law companies and ALSPs play in helping scale the department in routine areas of legal work, thus enabling the business to operate more quickly and cost efficiently. Finally, this session will touch on the key metrics used by law departments to demonstrate business value and contribution to the enterprise.)
